My oldest daughter reads the comics every morning. She also asks lots of questions about anything and everything.
The other day while reading the comic Candorville, she asked what “Thug 4 Life” meant.
I couldn’t think of an answer fast enough that a 5-year-old would understand, so I just started singing the chorus to “
California Love,” and slowly walked out of the room.

Luge has been conquered. Here’s video of my first run. The camera flew off my helmet halfway down as I was plowing down the track at 25 mph, so the craziness at the end isn’t me tumbling to my death. Just so you know.

When we think of national parks, rarely, or ever, do people think of a small 15-mile long island in the northern part of Lake Superior. I know I never did. But a
project for work brought me there for three days to talk with people about why they go to Isle Royale and, mostly, to examine the extreme problems facing the wolf population on the island.
Along with my video gear and a dslr camera, I took a couple handfuls of panoramas with my iPhone. These are 4 of my favorite ones.
I now need to find a way to get to that island.

So how was soccer practice tonight
Great! I love it this much (spreading her arms out as far apart as they can go)!
That's awesome. Did you have fun?
Yes. And I think I'm going to marry either Nick or Bradley. I can't decide.
OK! THAT'S IT! NO MORE SOCCER!

So Alice started soccer practice last night. That’s her back there with the gray shirt and pink shorts. For her first ever organized sporting activity she did great and wasn’t as nearly as timid as I thought she would be.
And, she didn’t drop her pants and pee by the goal like one other player did. So, I guess that’s a total win!

Good morning - did you have your coffee yet? World total consumption: 7,358,897 tons/year (via chartsbin.com)
I apparently need to move to Scandanavia (or maybe just Canada) to fully meet my coffee needs.

Everybody I know is having kids, so I made this helpful guide to nature names for your baby.
The original is over here.
Well, at least we made the “good” section with one of our daughters. Though, I’m wondering if we should have chosen something from the “great” ones.
